If you are flying into Mexico, and plan to rent a car, purchasing Mexican car rental insurance is one of the most proactive steps you can take to prepare for your trip to Mexico. Whether you are traveling for business or for pleasure, it is required to have liability coverage for your rental car in Mexico. The insurance available at many of the rental car companies in Mexico is quite expensive. We recommend you check pricing at different companies including the insurance and compare to what we can offer.

Many credit card companies claim that you will have coverage while driving a rental car. It does vary depending on the country you are visiting so make sure to verify this coverage before your trip. If the rental company agrees and you indeed have coverage, you may have limited third party liability coverage, leaving you liable for damages done to others while driving the rental vehicle. It is important to check the details.

Your Personal Liability
Most Mexican rental companies offer their own insurance coverage. You should consider Loss Damage Waiver, making sure you will have zero deductible; this will cover any damage to the rental vehicle regardless of who is at fault. It will most likely be expensive, but it is an expense should try to include in your travel budget. However, Third Party Liability is, in most cases, null or minimum leaving you with great exposure and risk to be held liable for damages to others and their property as well as the added expenses of legal aid and bond. The coverage we offer ranges from $50,000 - $150,000 of liability coverage and includes legal aid, bailbond and roadside assistance. If you are traveling with your spouse and driving age children, friends or coworkers, up to 5 can be added to one policy. Regardless of which of the five is driving the vehicle, they will be covered under one policy. This is a great way to stay within your budget, while having the peace of mind that everyone driving is covered.

It will cover the damages for which you are held liable as a result of bodily injury to others or damage to their property. Third Party Liability covers the amount that you are legally obligated to pay as damages, up to the amount stated on the policy. This coverage excludes the occupants of your vehicle.

Medical Expenses to Occupants
This is coverage for you and your passengers for any medical expenses in which the passengers of the rented vehicle may incur in case of an accident, insurance coverage is $5,000 per passenger and up to $25,000 USD per accident.

Legal Aid and Bond
One of the most important coverages in a Mexican auto policy, it will cover the legal representation and cost of bail bond. If you are involved an accident in the rented vehicle, this service is provided 24 hours all year round. Limits of the legal assistance are those matching the amount of the third party liability. If $50,000 USD liability is chosen, the legal assistance will match and also will be at $50,000.

Automobile Assistance
Services will be provided 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This coverage adds additional coverage for your trip, including medical transportation in case of an accident or a disease, medical air evacuation if the medical team recommends it and, depending on the wounds or disease, within Mexico or to the closest medical center to their permanent residence in the US or Canada. This coverage includes repatriation of remains.

Effective and Termination Dates
Coverage takes effect on the date and time you specify as indicated on the face of the policy once the insured has rented their vehicle at their destination in Mexico.
